Doug Burgum criticized after ‘career politician’ comments

Yesterday, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum took to his Twitter account to bash career politicians as part of his attempted run at The White House. Here, he wrote: ‘Tonight, voters learned why a career politician shouldn’t be the next president, and why party insiders have no business artificially shrinking the Republican field. Career politicians can’t fix what’s wrong in Washington. They’re why we’re in this mess in the first place!’

As the saying goes, you should only give criticism if you’re able to take it. As for Burgum, this statement didn’t go down particularly well in the replies section. Here, various comments were made that questioned his run for Presidency. Unfortunately for Burgum, this came from either side of the political spectrum.

This prompted a rather cutting reply, where one user quipped: “Businessmen” can’t run the country either, as your leader/idol has shown over and over and over. Go home, Doug, and do your job.”

Similarly, another user added: “This is in your solicitation email. What you say is not what you do. You have called Biden every nasty name in the book, and yes, yell. You are trying to be Trump with a cowboy hat. Isn’t spending $30M enough on your vanity trip to Iowa & New Hampshire?”

Based on these (and many similar comments), it doesn’t look like Burgum will get close to The Whitehouse, and he may need to keep an eye on his governor position too.
