Beloved Coffee Shop to permanently close next month
The Murray Hill neighborhood will witness the closure of Vagabond Coffee Co.’s storefront by the end of 2023. Will Morgan, the proprietor, is shifting focus to enhance areas of the business that are thriving, specifically its catering services and the wholesale side of its coffee roasting operations.
Located at 934 Edgewood Ave. S, the coffee shop will be winding down operations, as declared by Morgan in an Instagram post dated November 6. The company’s roasting facility is conveniently situated just across the street.
Vagabond Coffee started its journey with a vintage 1963 Scotty Highlander camper, establishing a presence in various locations around the city. The announcement of the closure was made on their Instagram account.
Their journey began with a spot in the Laura Street Trio lot, followed by a notable presence in James Weldon Johnson Park. Here, Vagabond’s camper became a fixture, blending seamlessly with the park’s environment and its everyday happenings.
August 2015 marked the opening of Vagabond’s primary physical store in the Murray Hill area, setting the stage for what would become a beloved local establishment.
Then, in October 2022, the company expanded into the downtown area, setting up a 150-square-foot shop within the VyStar Tower at 76 S. Laura St. This downtown venture has since ceased operations.
