Popular Sandwich shop to close after 50 years of business

The sale of Brooks’ Sandwich House is now official, following proprietor David Brooks’ previous indications that he might sell the renowned burger establishment. Originally founded in 1973, this shop has been serving the community for decades, with this said its sale will be met with sadness.

The Nichols Company has posted a listing indicating that the property, which spans nearly an acre on N. Brevard Street, is on the market, although potential buyers will need to inquire directly as the selling price has not been disclosed.

The promotional material for the site highlights the chance to own a spot in the NoDa area, with the added convenience of proximity to the light rail and various multi-dwelling units.

On Tuesday, a Channel 9 crew noticed a sign displayed on the site directing passersby to the online listing.

This move to sell comes in the wake of the tragic incident nearly four years prior when David Brooks’ brother, Scott, was fatally shot during a robbery while opening the establishment for the day.

Despite the sale, this may not be the end of the shop. This is because several months back, the owners claimed that after selling the land, they would consider opening up shop elsewhere. At this moment in time, it is not known what will be replacing the venue at its current spot.
