Huge Food Hall coming to Philly

Real estate firm Post Brothers has recently secured agreements with three upscale Philadelphia-based dining establishments, allocating a combined 30,000 square feet to their operations.

A significant portion of this area will be dedicated to a food hall by Method Cos., a hospitality group from Philadelphia recognized for their establishments Wm. Mulherin’s Sons and Hiroki in Fishtown. Gertie, a contemporary deli that has gained popularity in Brooklyn, is set to occupy 3,000 square feet of the space. Additionally, renowned French chef Laurent Tourondel is set to open a premium restaurant within an 8,000 square foot area.

Post Brothers executives, speaking on Monday, indicated that the launch of these venues is anticipated to be at least a year away, with the expectation that their internal general contracting team can expedite the construction process.

Northern Liberties, a neighborhood that has seen nearly 6,000 new residential units approved over the past five years, is witnessing a transformation in its dining scene, which has been somewhat inconsistent. This area lies adjacent to Fishtown and Kensington, neighborhoods that have experienced a significant expansion in dining choices over the past ten years.

The introduction of the two restaurants and the food hall is expected to enhance the culinary appeal of Northern Liberties, an area currently known for its nightlife-centric venues like Figo, Añejo, and El Camino Real. Across the street, a luxurious dining venue named SIN — an acronym for Steak Italian Nightlife — is set to open soon in the Beverly, a newly constructed building with 51 residential units.
