Recently, an eagle-eyed shopper stumbled upon singular apple pies listed for sale in a San Diego Walmart store for $27.99. Typically, you may expect a supermarket apple pie to cost $9.99, especially at Walmart which is famously cheaper than most supermarket outlets. Nonetheless, this isn’t a pricing error and is priced correctly.

The reason for this isn’t exactly Walmart’s fault either. This is because this particular brand of pie is not cheap to begin with. Julian branded pies can be purchased from their website for $25.95 which shows just how expensive they are.

News of the pricey pies first appeared on Reddit where San Diego users were shocked to see the prices. The image generated nearly 400 comments with many of them shocked and equally appalled at the pricing. Here, one user wrote: “I want to say these were like $18.99 at Barons last year. Don’t get me wrong, Julian Pies are incredible…but there’s 0 chance I’m paying $28 for one.”

As seen, it looks like two of these pies had sold, which may be telling regarding their cost. Nonetheless, in a high-income area like San Diego, this pricing strategy may not be as bizarre as it first seems. Still, judging by the reaction of San Diego residents online, these pies are too expensive.
