Yesterday, Dallas residents were caught off guard as impressive military aircraft soared over the suburban horizon. Such a sight is not typical, and it’s entirely natural for onlookers to be filled with awe at this sudden display. When it comes to Chinook helicopters, their distinctive rumble often precedes their visual appearance, given their reputation for producing significant noise.

The aircraft spotted were identified as Boeing CH-47 Chinooks. These Chinooks are sometimes used in military exercises and have been known to transport military gear. They are recognized for their ability to carry hefty loads. One Reddit user also noticed and claimed that Black Hawks had also been in the vicinity recently.

In terms of cost, the Chinook doesn’t come cheap. Each of these helicopters is estimated to be worth around $30 million. This means that the snapshots taken of them represent a combined value of over $60 million.

As of now, there’s scant information about why two Chinooks were flying over Dallas. They might have been involved in training maneuvers or perhaps transporting equipment. However, it’s most likely that they were going to nearby military bases for training which is perfectly normal. This is because, Dallas is home to a few different military air bases, including Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth and the Dallas MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station).
