Huge clothing store announces closure of Columbus location

Amazon has announced the closure of its apparel outlets.

On Thursday, the company revealed plans to shut down its two ‘Amazon Style’ locations in Los Angeles and Columbus, Ohio, marking another departure from its physical retail ventures. These closures are scheduled for next week.

The inaugural Amazon Style outlet was launched just last year at The Americana at Brand, a shopping center in Glendale, California. Industry observers had speculated that Amazon’s foray into this space might pose challenges for established retailers such as Macy’s and Kohl’s. However, Amazon’s ventures into brick-and-mortar retail have seen mixed results.

In the previous year, Amazon shuttered all its physical bookstores, its 4-star outlets, and pop-up locations, stating this would allow them to focus on other in-person ventures, including Amazon Fresh and the Style stores.

Earlier in the year, the company also reported the closure of certain Amazon Fresh and Go outlets that weren’t meeting expectations. Furthermore, Amazon has temporarily halted the expansion of its Fresh supermarkets as it seeks an optimal strategy for growth.

Despite these changes, Amazon reiterated its dedication to its remaining physical stores.

In a recent move, Amazon unveiled revamped Amazon Fresh stores in Illinois this past August. The company claims these redesigned outlets will offer a broader product range, more competitive pricing, and a streamlined checkout process.
