New photos show insides of abandoned Whole Donut shop – 10 years after its closure

This week, a Connecticut local visited The Whole Donut store in Enfield and took a few photographs. Originally closing 10 years ago, this store has remained relatively untouched from the outside, with its original signs intact. It also had a commercial/retail leasing advert but as seen, it looks like there has been no interest. On the inside, some of the equipment remains. However, it has also been the victim of graffiti on the walls, which also looks like it’s a few years old.

Older Connecticut residents may remember this chain store back in the 90s when there seemed to be a Whole Donut on almost every street corner. Now there is only one that remains after its Canton venue closed last year. Ironically, this is also based in Enfield but is at a different location (at 920 Enfield St A).

These images were captured by a Reddit user in the area, who photographed the venue by taking snaps at the windows. Weirdly, although much of the equipment remains, the heads of the bar stools have all been removed. Similarly, the ceiling has seen better days. These may be the reasons why this establishment has not had any occupants in 10 years. However, the donut cabinet still looks in immaculate condition.

Whether for better or worse, this shows a snapshot of a bygone era. Many people may have forgotten about Whole Donut which shows how quickly commercial empires can rise and fall. On a final note, it will be interesting to see when this place eventually finds a new occupant.
