In some rather shocking news, Brooklyn Char recently announced its permanent closure via its website. Here, the Indianapolis pizzeria claimed that the closure was due to the high repair cost of repairing their broken pizza oven.

On the website, it reads: ‘It is with great sadness that I have to announce I am shutting operations down. I have had issues with the oven and the cost to repair it/and or purchase a new one is more than what I can afford. I would like to thank everyone who was able to come out and give it a try, and sorry for the bad news. I started this as a passion project to bring a true NY style of pizza to the Indianapolis area, which I believe we Hoosier Pizza Fanatics deserve! Brooklyn Char will one day rise from the pizza ashes and I will see you all then. Thank you for your support.’

Currently, Brooklyn Char is listed on Google as temporarily closed. However, it looks like this status will change in due course. Unfortunately, this restaurant had very positive reviews which means it will be missed by the Indy food community. While Indianapolis may have a good number of pizza joints, this one was arguably one of the better establishments and offered a genuine taste of Brooklyn-style pizzas. At this point in time, it is not known what will replace the venue.
