Bizarre sign shows Langer’s ban crop tops and crop tops

This week, a photograph emerged which showed a bizarre sign on the front of Langer’s Delicatessen. While this may be an institution that has survived nearly 80 years of business in LA, it’s still not immune from enforcing some unusual rules. As seen toward the bottom of the photo, the signs read: ‘No tank tops/crop tops allowed.’

This arguably brings up more questions than it does answers, as it makes you wonder what had to happen to make this rule enforced. Usually, tank tops and crop tops are seen as harmless pieces of clothing. Clearly, Langer’s doesn’t view it this way.

The image was first uploaded to Reddit, which created quite a conversation regarding its origins. Interestingly, their website also says: ‘For health and safety, please no tank tops inside the deli. Thank you for understanding.’ Once again, this doesn’t make complete sense considering that tank tops aren’t particularly unhygienic.

Langer’s Delicatessen Restaurant in Los Angeles is a legendary institution, especially known for its famous No. 19 pastrami on rye sandwich. It’s been around since 1947, and it’s a staple in the city’s food scene. The restaurant itself has a classic deli vibe, with counter service and a casual atmosphere. If you’re ever in L.A., a trip to Langer’s is a must. Just don’t wear a crop top.
