Albert’s Florist closes after tax issues

Albert’s Florist in Brookline was closed recently with a large, orange ‘seized’ sign posted on its front door. Last week, an image first emerged on its Google profile that was taken by an unsuspecting customer who turned up to see the sign and closure. Albert’s is located at 1392A, Beacon St, Brookline, and has been serving the community with flowers for years now.

Upon closer inspection, the sign reads: ‘The business property of Albert’s Brookline Florist Inc. has been seized for nonpayment of taxes, and is now in the possession of the commonwealth of Massachusetts. Seized. Any person who attempts to tamper or interfere with this property will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law’

Often, these closures are grouped, meaning the Massachusetts tax department may have also gone after other businesses during this period. This news was somewhat out of the blue seeing as Albert’s has a rather inactive social media profile.

Because of this, it is possible that numerous Brookline residents may have also seen the sign after going to buy flowers. Typically, these seizures end when the business pays its taxes. However, depending on the size of the tax bill, this could be several weeks or even months down the line. With this said, it’s highly likely that Albert’s will return at some point. However, the exact date is unknown.
