A renowned Louisville eatery known for its unique meat offerings is set to launch a new branch in Southern Indiana in the coming month.

Game on the River is slated to commence operations at 117 E. Riverside Drive, Jeffersonville, by early November. This expansive 2,800-square-foot venue was formerly the home of Portage House, which shuttered its doors in April 2021.

Tim Lewis, the proprietor of Game, mentioned that the menu at the Southern Indiana outlet would mirror that of its 2295 Lexington Road, Louisville counterpart. However, he intends to incorporate seafood options, taking inspiration from the picturesque Ohio River views.

Game stands out in the Greater Louisville area for its distinctive offerings, such as buffalo tongue sliders and meatballs made from yak and kangaroo. Lewis acquired Game from its original creators, Chase Mucerino and Adam Burress, in a timely manner in March 2020, just before Gov. Andy Beshear mandated the closure of all Kentucky eateries due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Menu items at Game are priced between $6 and $18. Before his venture into Game, Lewis was engaged in the corporate food sector, catering to colleges and stadiums. While the pandemic prompted Lewis to recalibrate his initial vision for Game, he now feels poised to broaden the brand’s footprint.

While Lewis chose not to disclose the investment behind “Game on the River,” he anticipates bringing on board around 28 staff members. With a few finishing touches left, Lewis is optimistic about the imminent opening of the new establishment.
