Popular Japanese Eatery to close after selling venue
One of the best Japanese food trucks in Portland recently revealed that it had sold its van and that its final day of operation would be December 17th. This was announced on their Instagram account which was met with sadness from fans of the truck. Over the past few months, Tokyo Sando had been advertising their truck for sale, and now it has finally got a buyer.
According to a separate post, they had wanted $20,000 for the truck which has now gone. However, they will still be open as usual until mid-December and will continue to be based at 321 SW 2nd Ave in Portland.
The news was broken on their Instagram page where they wrote: ‘Our truck was sold. Thank you for the messages. Our last day will be 12/17 on Sunday. Eat at Tokyo Sando before we’re gone.’ This was accompanied by a picture of their truck which had ‘Sold out, Arigato!’ written on it, meaning thank you in Japanese.
Over the years, Tokyo Sando had carved out a stellar reputation for offering egg sandwiches among other Japanese delicacies. It’s fair to assume that such a niche eatery won’t be replaced too easily, however you would assume that the new owner would open their own food truck at some point. While it’s not quite sayonara, it will be within two months for this Japanese food truck.
