Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker recently attracted criticism after comments made on his Twitter account. Here, Pritzker wrote about accomplishing the goal of ending hunger in Illinois. Undoubtedly, this is a nice goal to have and in isolation, it is a brilliant idea. However, many used the statement to criticize their governor for bad policies and ideas implemented by Pritzker in the past.

Writing on Twitter, he said: ‘This is Illinois. There’s nothing we can’t do — even during hard times — if we do it together. Ending hunger in our state isn’t just a hope and prayer, it’s a tangible goal thanks to the work of the IL Commission to End Hunger. Each stride forward is progress for Illinoisans.’

Responding to this, one user wrote: “I’ll tell you what we can’t do. We can’t sit at a stop light in Chicago without fear of being car-jacked. Constituent Safety is the first bullet point in your job description. Epic fail !” This was said in relation to the rampant crime in the state, which some people have blamed Pritzker for glossing over in recent months.

Another user named Gary also quipped: “Nothing you can do except stop violence, lower taxes, win the NFC North, stop the flow of businesses out of state, reduce crime, or make housing affordable. But yes you ‘ended hunger.'” In short, this shows that some people want real actions from their governor, rather than vague statements about future plans that may not materialize.
