Not for the first time, a sign has re-emerged on Hollywood streets that warns locals from using Silly String during Halloween. The sign which was photographed below went viral on social media. Here, it wrote: ‘$1,000 fine. Silly string prohibited 12:00 AM October 31 to 12:00 AM Noon November 1st. It is illegal to possess, use, sell, or distribute silly string in public areas per LAMC 56.02’

This is a legitimate law too, and more can be found about it here. Apparently, silly string creates too much of a mess and becomes a public nuisance. So now, people in Beverly Hills are banned from using these items in public on Halloween night. Remember, Hollywood isn’t exactly a regular neighborhood and may have certain rules in place to keep order in place.

It turns out that this law has actually been in place for quite some time, and was first put into action in 2004. Since then, there have been no reports of people being fined for using silly string in Hollywood, so it is not known whether this law is genuinely enforced or not. Nonetheless, you may not want to go out with it if you’re concerned about getting on the wrong side of the law. Interestingly, the ban ends after Halloween Night is over when normality resumes.
