Tex-Mex Restaurant & Bar to close after 14 years of business
Unfortunately for Tex-Mex fans, D.S. Tequila Co. is closing next month after 14 wild years on Northalsted. The beloved bar and restaurant, famous for its fiestas, tasty tacos, and margaritas that pack a punch, is closing its doors after service on Nov. 5.
However, the owners plan to keep the doors open for special events through the fall and winter while they search for a new owner to take over the space. D.S. Tequila is part of a restaurant empire that also includes Crispy Chicks, Fajita Factory, Dive Bar, mEAT, wine bar, and minibar, so it’s a big loss for the Northalsted strip. At this moment in time, it is not known what will replace the venue.
The upcoming closure was announced on their Instagram page. Here, they wrote: ‘To Our Customers & Friends over the past 20 years, our team of countless hard-working and talented industry professionals have brought you minibar, winebar, meat, Dive Bar, Fajita Factory, Crispy Chicks and, of course, DS Tequila. DS Tequila thanks all of you for your 14 years of patronage.’
Over the years, D.S. Tequla earned a stellar reputation as one of Chicago’s best Tex-Mex joints which means this closure may be sad news for fans of the venue. Although the restaurant thanked its customers, its announcement did not disclose the reasons for its closure.
