Over the years, Reo’s Ribs, the beloved Southern cuisine restaurant in Portland, has had more than its fair share of bad luck. The restaurant was hit with not one, but three separate fires over the years. Despite the devastating damage, owner Girod remained determined to keep the business going. Similarly, the community wasn’t about to let Reo’s go down without a fight. Local business association members pitched in to help clean up the site, and the community rallied around the restaurant to help it get back on its feet.

Now, in late 2023, it has re-opened for business yet again. Because of this, you can’t help but admire the people involved regarding its history and their determination. News of its re-opening quickly spread on social media, where one Reddit user photographed the venue with its lights on and ‘open’ sign on the outside. They also took the image below as proof of its re-opening.

This is a story of perseverance, resilience, and the power of community.
