Bill Lee lands in hot water after positive state economy comments
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee recently made a speech where he praised Tennessee for its job creation, economy, and bright future. Here, he was highly complimentary of the state he represents while also being positive about its economic future.
He even went as far as to call Tennessee the ‘best’ state. This was documented on his Twitter where he wrote: ‘Great to be in Chattanooga this week to share how Tennessee is leading the nation as the best state to work, live & raise a family. Tennessee is experiencing record growth, historic job creation & a booming economy, & we continue to make strong investments for a bright future.’
Naturally, these bold claims gained attention and not all of it was the good kind. In fact, many people used this platform to criticize Lee and his policies, going as far as to say that he had a negative impact on the state.
Responding to this with figures, one user named J Miller wrote: “Thanks to Republicans, Tennessee is #1 in medical bankruptcies. #1 in rural hospital closures per capita. Bottom in infant & maternal mortality. Bottom in poverty. 300,000 in the Medicaid gap including 30,000 veterans.”
Similarly, a constituent named Geoffrey Little wrote: “Why the daily propaganda? We all have the internet. You spout exaggerated claims and untruths.”
As seen, sometimes positivity can be rebuked by other people’s opinions and statistics. In the case of Lee, it looks as though his opinion on Tennessee isn’t shared by everyone in the state.
