Panchitos Ice Cream & Taqueria has revealed that its Highlands location will be closing its doors after six years in business. This iconic eatery, which has become known for its delicious Mexican desserts and tacos, will no longer be serving up its tasty treats in the Highlands, much to the dismay of its loyal customers.

According to the statement posted on the shop’s Facebook page, “We wanted to share that we are closing this location permanently. We are grateful for the support we have received from our customers over the past six years, and we hope you will continue to enjoy our delicious treats at our other locations.”

Understandably, this announcement was met with sadness from its customer base. Hundreds of people liked the comment and paid their respects by leaving compliments. This is understandable, considering that the news of its closure did seem very abrupt with no prior warning.

The closure is a significant loss for the Louisville food scene, but they also hinted that they could potentially re-open the store elsewhere at a later date. It is not known why they decided to close this particular location but confirmed that they didn’t renew the lease. Their last day of operation will be on October 29th closing time 9 pm. At this point in time, it is not known what will occupy the vacant spot in the future.
