Beloved Pizzaria closes after 20 years of business

One of the original occupants of The Waterfront in Homestead has closed down. Uno Pizzaria and Grill announced on their Facebook page that they had permanently closed. This was followed by the Waterfront confirming the news.

This was one of only a few pizzerias in the city that offered Chicago-style pizzas and opened in Pittsburgh over 20 years ago. Since then, the Waterfront has seen lots of change, including new restaurants coming and going.

According to local gossip, this closed due to its 20 year lease ending at the Waterfront, which may also explain why other, similar venues have also been closing in recent times at the Waterfront. Furthermore, this indicates that the entire area is undergoing rapid change with various, older venues being replaced with new additions. On a similar note, it is unknown whether Uno will re-open elsewhere or whether they’re calling it a day.

Over the years, Uno had received positive reviews online and was known as one of the oldest pizza restaurants in the city (as well as being one of the best). At this moment in time, it is not known what will be its replacement. Nonetheless, it may prove easier said than done due to its historic ties with the area.
