New independent bookstore opens in downtown Sylvania
This week finally saw the opening of Finch & Fern Book Co. which is the latest book store to open in Toledo. It is located in downtown Sylvania and has a relaxed interior, complete with various books, with some being old, while others are new.
News of Finch & Fern first broke on their Instagram page back in July and since then, the store has been taking shape physically. Now, after months of hard work, it has finally opened. Book lovers may also be pleased to hear that this is an independent, locally-owned bookstore so it really is a great addition to the community. On top of this, sometimes Finch & Fern even gives out free books which is a very classy touch.
As seen in the video above, the store is separated into three parts. The first section is a cozy reading area, complete with comfy chairs and lots of house plants, whereas the middle section is dedicated to the main bookstore. The back area looks to be a children’s section, which also has a table and chairs, as well as plenty of books to choose from.
According to the owner, the name comes from Finch for Atticus Finch which is their favorite literary work, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Fern because it was alliterative and they wanted to have plants all over the bookstore. The opening hours of Finch & Fern are 10 AM – 7 PM on Monday to Thursday, 10 AM – 9 PM on Saturday, and 11 AM to 5 PM on Sundays.
