Kansas City is set to get a new Tiki Bar in the coming weeks. Named Kon Tiki Room, this establishment is situated at 1922 Baltimore, Kansas City, MO 64108 and according to this website, it is coming ‘this fall’. By our calculations, this means that it should open fairly soon seeing as winter is just around the corner. Nonetheless, you never know when delays are concerned.

This will be set in the Crossroads Arts District which is already home to various restaurants and businesses. With this said, it is also a welcome addition to the area and is certainly something different when compared to your average bar.

According to the bar, it claims to be ‘A fresh take on the Polynesian legend. Every major city needs at least one tiki bar: tropical décor, elaborate rum drinks, and mellow island music. While honoring the timeless elements of tiki culture, we are infusing it with modern mixology and a more energetic atmosphere. Our goal is to create a destination that delights the neighborhood for years to come: an instant classic.’

Intriguingly, this isn’t the first bar in Kansas City to share the same name either. Back in the 1960s, it turns out that another venue was named the Kon Tiki Room in the city. Although long gone, this shows the historic legacy of these bars in the area.
