The 7-Eleven store at 3146 Mount Pleasant Street is set to close down permanently after signs were shown on the premises that read: ‘Store closing deals! 75% off on selected items.’ According to staff at the store, the closure could be as early as next week. However, 7-Eleven has not clarified anything and at this point, the closing date is not known.

It is not known why the store has closed but at this point, locals have assumed it was due to financial reasons. News of the closure quickly spread to Reddit, where one user wrote: “The 7-11 in Mount Pleasant is closing! As someone who has lived in Mount Pleasant for 14 years. I am so happy that it is finally closing. That place has always been an eyesore but recently it’s been becoming an open-air drug market. And it was seeping into the whole neighborhood. I guess it’s closing cause no one wanted to go there anymore and people were looting it.”

Here, many users expressed their happiness that the store was closing, although a number of them cynically replied that it could potentially be replaced by a CVS or Chase Bank. Nonetheless, it is very possible that this may pave the way for something different. At this point in time, it is not known what will replace the venue.
