Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker was recently criticized over his comments surrounding early childhood programs within the state. Here, he took to Twitter to argue that Illinoisans needed a unified government to help raise a family. This was accompanied by photos of a speech where he spoke about these issues in person. Despite his claims, not everyone agreed with Pritzker and used the comments section to share their opinions, of which many weren’t very impressed with the governor.

In full, his Tweet read: ‘Illinoisans need a unified government to serve families, ease the burden on providers, and promote equity. Today, I’m announcing our proposal to consolidate early childhood programs into a new state agency. Another step toward making us the best state to raise a family.’

One user named Tom Green replied to Pritzker’s comments and claimed: “What Illinois really needs is less Government and less Government intervention. Let Me keep my money and worry about Me. We don’t need another program. And give Government employees and programs a haircut. Also, move what’s leftover into a 401K and abolish public pensions.”

Elsewhere, another user wasn’t as diplomatic with their words and wrote: “You’re really running the state right into the ground all on your own. Revenues down, taxes up, pay down, wages leaving. Dumpster fire.” As ever, it looks like Pritzker’s comments didn’t go down particularly well with a lot of Illinois residents.
