Footage shows brazen trash can thief with truck filled with cans
Footage recently recorded by CCTV showed a brazen thief stealing a residential trash can. Here, the video shows the culprit driving to the house, park his truck, and getting out. After unlocking the back of his truck, he then steals a trash can and loads it onto the back of his truck before driving off. The footage also shows the back of the truck filled with various other trash cans which are assumed to be stolen.
The footage was originally uploaded to Reddit, where it was captioned: ‘Last Saturday at about 2:22 pm, someone came by with a truck filled with city trash bins and took the one outside of a neighbor’s house. Lookout for this guy.’
Unfortunately, the truck was just out of the bounds of the CCTV’s radius in terms of picking up the license plate or the face of the thief. This prompted a discussion regarding the motives of the trash can thief. Overall, it’s a pretty strange item to steal, especially en masse. Interestingly, if your first trash can is stolen then the city will replace it free of charge. However, any replacement after this will cost $51.48.
Unfortunately, the location of the theft is unknown, but it was somewhere in Albuquerque. Interestingly, the victim also confirmed that they had spoken to the city, who confirmed that they didn’t take the can and that when they did, it usually was done so with their own vans.
