Jared Polis blasted over ‘cringy’ letter sent to Taylor Swift
Colorado Governor Jared Polis recently wrote a long letter to Taylor Swift upon her impending visit to the state due to her Era’s tour. Here, he used a number of puns in the letter that used various Taylor Swift songs in the text for comical effect. The bizarre letter was uploaded to Twitter and gained hundreds of comments in response.
Here, Polis wrote: “@taylorswift13, I had to Speak Now, and I couldn’t help but write to you leading up to your exciting weekend in Denver! I hope you enjoy Colorado as much as we do!” Although this was clearly intended as a funny PR piece, it didn’t go down with many who didn’t see the funny side of things.
Responding to the original letter, one Colorado resident wrote: “The governor’s energy should be focused on helping Colorado citizens, not writing superstars cringy letters.”
Similarly, another constituent quipped: “This is embarrassing. Why aren’t you talking about XCEL energy and the PUC trying to raise energy costs?” Clearly, not everyone bought into the letter and wanted Polis to focus on real issues.
Interestingly, many of the comments saw the lighter side of the Tweet and applauded Polis for his creativity. Nonetheless, this highlights just how divisive Colorado’s Governor is right now.
