Recently, an image went viral on social media that highlighted the dire situation currently going on in parts of Philadelphia. This showed numerous revelers waiting on the sidewalk for the bus as there was no bus station in sight. This took place on Market Street which has become infamous for its lack of bus stations.

The photo was first shared on Reddit, where the user who uploaded it wrote: “I walk by this circus every day – all 3 bus companies just dumping people on the sidewalk with no bathrooms or even a place to sit. And the mentally ill homeless have magnetically attached themselves to this block. It will be a long cold winter for the people who decided ‘leave the driving to us’. Disgraceful.” As mentioned, this won’t be a fun experience for bus-goers during the upcoming colder months.

One user named Dan Hassler replied saying: “I believe their permits expire at the end of December. Let’s hope the idiots in city hall don’t renew them and force them to find an empty lot somewhere to use. There’s plenty of city-owned empty lots that are perfect for this.”

With this in mind, the fiasco’s end could soon be in sight. However, cynics in Philadelphia will not be counting on the city authorities to sort the situation out meaning this problem may become more long-term than initially expected.
