Ned Lamont challenged over Connecticut business comments

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont was recently challenged over positive claims he made about the state. On his Twitter account, Lamont claimed that Connecticut was a great place for business innovators as he waxed lyrical about the state. Although he was clearly happy with things, not everyone agreed and used his status to remind him of their grievances.

Speaking on Twitter, Lamont wrote: ‘We are a state of creators, makers, innovators, and entrepreneurs — a powerful force for good in our country. Happy families. Thriving businesses. Vibrant communities.Made in CT.’

Of the 60 replies, many of them shared the same theme which was based on Connecticut’s high taxes. Based on this, you can see why some found his statement to be contradictory. One user named Keates replied: “When you over-tax them (business & high earners) they flee. Pushing out a costly ad campaign won’t lure them back.”

Another user named Edwards also left a similar comment, adding: “We knew all that and left anyway, because we can now enjoy 80% less in taxes and “fees”. The cost of living in CT is a joke. Here 800 miles away from Hartford it is nice enjoying things instead of worrying about April 15th.”

These were just a few of many comments that showed Lamont’s attempt at good PR fell on deaf ears.
