Greg Abbott challenged over Texas employment claims
Recently, Texas Governor Greg Abbott came under fire over his comments surrounding job growth in Texas. Here, he claimed that Texas led the nation in terms of annual job growth. These comments were proudly displayed on Abbott’s Twitter page, where he wrote: ‘Texas has broken our own record for total jobs 2 years in a ROW, leads the nation in annual job growth, and is now the world’s 8th largest economy. Our state continues to reach new heights thanks to hardworking Texans.’
As you can imagine, this is a contentious issue regarding why Texas has such good job growth and this is also up for debate. Clearly, not everyone agreed that this success was Abbott’s doing and that he didn’t deserve credit. In fact, many believed it was the doing of President Joe Biden.
Replying to Abbott, one user named Cleveland Maxwell even wrote: “Real Texans, on the other hand, have the worst medical care in the country, the worst working conditions, etc. All on the Greg Abbott corporate plantation.” This comment also shows that sometimes, records aren’t as simple as they seem, despite appearing impressive to begin with.
Another user named Texas Mom had a similar comment to make, as she quipped: “Great! The rich are getting richer! What are you doing for everyone else? Underfunded schools, 46th in mental health funding, and 48th in health funding. Apparently we are not the Government for the people, by the people. We are the Government of the Rich.” Love him or hate him, it looks as though not everyone in the state agrees with Greg Abbott.
