Taco’ako closes – And re-opens as a doner joint
Whisper it quietly, but Taco’ako has closed. This has not had any media coverage and was not even mentioned on their social media pages. Instead, the news was found out when customers went to the spot expecting tacos, only to be greeted with doner’s instead. As you can imagine, this may be a little confusing if you were a customer expecting to get tacos, only to turn up to a completely different restaurant.
News of this was first mentioned on their Instagram page. Here, a disgruntled customer wrote on their latest image, saying: “So bummed you guys switched over to a Doner place. Only decent Mexican food in town will be missed.” Interestingly, the original caption opened with ‘Get your burrito bowl fix soon before it’s too late.’ This also hinted at things to come in the future regarding the closure.
Further evidence of the change was documented in a recent Reddit thread, where one user said: “(I) went to SALT today and noticed Doner Shack is now in the Taco’ako space. Does anyone know if they closed or moved?” In this thread, others confirmed that Doner Shack had replaced Taco’ako. Unfortunately, news of the closure has not really been mentioned much. Nonetheless, it looks like customers are unhappy with its closure, as it was known for its good food.
