J.B. Pritzker infuriates Illinoisians after pay and education comments

Yesterday, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker took to his personal Twitter account to boast about the success of the Illinois population over the past 10 years. Here, he claimed the numbers from the US Census Bureau showed that the state had become higher paid and more educated over the past decade.

Specifically, Pritzker’s Tweet read: ‘An analysis of Current Population Survey data from the US Census Bureau and @ILDeptofRevenue shows that Illinois’ population has been stable over the decade, with residents as a whole becoming higher-paid and more educated.’

It looks as though one user named The Petite Patriot did not agree with Pritzker and replied saying: “These results have nothing to do with the fact the study was done by the Illinois Economic Policy Institute, which is funded, in part, by The Chicago Community Trust, where the Executive Committee Vice-Chair, Bryan Traubert, is chairman of the Pritzker Traubert Foundation, right?”

Another user named Kap Pratt wrote: “Total employment for the period covered grew by 3%. It was 12% nationally over the same period. Twenty five cents on the dollar is a strange definition of stable!”

The original status had over 120 comments, with many of them following a similar trend. Clearly, despite Pritzker trying to play this off as some kind of victory, nonetheless, it looks like closer inspection shows that this is far from the case.
