A well-known landmark in Indianapolis specializing in soul food is preparing to resume operations in its original location.

The Kountry Kitchen Soul Food Place, a popular Indianapolis restaurant that closed its doors in January 2020 due to a fire that resulted in the destruction of its premises, is all set to welcome customers once again on Thursday, October 19th, in the Kennedy-King neighborhood. The announcement was also made on their social media pages. Here, they thanked locals for their support upon their re-opening.

An exclusive ribbon-cutting ceremony, by invitation only, is scheduled for Thursday morning, with distinguished guests, among them Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett. The official reopening of the restaurant, located at 1831 N. College Avenue, is slated for 5 p.m. Reservations are highly recommended and can be arranged through the restaurant’s official website.

Following the fire and the challenges posed by the pandemic, the family-owned Kountry Kitchen, in operation since 1988, faced a period of uncertainty regarding the feasibility of rebuilding and reopening. However, thanks to substantial support from the local community and corporate backers, both in terms of vocal encouragement and financial contributions, co-owners Isaac and Cynthia Wilson have been motivated to reopen their establishment on the very same property. The new facility boasts a spacious 12,000-square-foot building, which includes an in-house event hall known as the 910 North Event Center.
