On Thursday morning, a seismic event occurred in a region of western Nevada, as reported by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). According to USGS, the initial assessment indicates that this tremor had a magnitude of 3.5 and it affected the area known as Spanish Springs, striking at approximately 12:43 a.m. local time.

Although many residents may have felt the disturbance, it wasn’t just humans who experienced it either. The video below shows two dogs who were clearly spooked by the quake. Originally, they both lay in their baskets before jumping up and looking startled. Naturally, dogs are known to be highly sensitive animals when it comes to sensing environmental changes. With this said, the video isn’t too surprising when you consider this.

The footage was originally uploaded to Reddit by a user located in Vista Heights. Similarly, another user described their own experience and wrote: “Thanks for sharing. That’s what I experienced in Spanish Springs. A pretty good shake for a couple of seconds.”

Spanish Springs is located in Washoe County, approximately 12 miles to the northeast of downtown Reno. USGS data suggests that this earthquake was centered at a depth of 6.5 miles. As of now, there is no immediate information available regarding injuries resulting from the event.

This seismic activity follows another earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 that occurred in the same area on the preceding Wednesday.
