Popular Dallas Restaurant Announces Shock Closure – And it’s permanent

October 18, 2023 by No Comments

Cry Wolf, the daring and highly-praised restaurant in East Dallas that boldly defied the opulent dining trends of Dallas, has shuttered its doors. The establishment held its final dinner service on October 8, subsequently taking an unannounced one-week hiatus before officially announcing its closure today.

The sudden cessation of operations bears a resemblance to the conclusion of Demers’ tenure at On The Lamb in 2016. At that time, the restaurant initially characterized its closure as temporary, attributing it to a kitchen fire, but it was later revealed that Demers had parted ways with the ownership due to disagreements about the restaurant’s direction. With Cry Wolf, Demers held the dual roles of owner and chef, which makes this latest closure just as astonishing to us as to anyone else.

As for the exact reasons behind the closure, we can only speculate at this juncture. Cry Wolf had an intimate setting, accommodating roughly 30 diners at a time. It’s conceivable that the financial challenges of running a restaurant necessitated serving a larger volume of patrons, a prospect that wasn’t feasible given the limited space.

Additionally, Cry Wolf had previously grappled with structural issues in its building, having undergone a temporary closure last June following a minor kitchen fire that mandated repairs and city recertification before reopening. At this moment in time, it is not known what will replace Cry Wolf, or whether it will eventually re-open as something else in the future.
