Kevin Stitt challenged over Oklahoma Education comments

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt was recently challenged over his comments surrounding education in Oklahoma. Recently, he visited a school and met with school children. Stitt mentioned this visit on his Twitter account and captioned it by writing: ‘Our children are Oklahoma’s greatest asset— that’s why I’ve proudly invested more in our education system than any other governor before me. We must continue to invest in our future leaders.’

Due to the ongoing political climate surrounding education in Oklahoma, it’s not surprising that these comments were challenged on the platform. Here, a number of Oklahomans used it to criticize Stitt.

Despite appearing positive about education in the state, one user named Mr. Anderson replied: “And we’re still at the bottom for funding. I’d love to see a breakdown of your increased funding.”

On a similar note, another user wrote: “I have been hearing this for quite some time from you, hasn’t happened and we are still in the bottom 20 in education. Words mean nothing, we need action. Quit attacking teachers.”

If nothing else, this serves as an example that when politicians say one thing, it can not always tell the full story. In this instance, it seems as though a lot of people didn’t agree with Stitt regarding the low standards of education in Oklahoma.
