Japanese Restaurant opens in Newark

A Japanese eatery has recently made its debut in Newark after a soft opening, and it happens to be under the ownership of the same individual who runs three other renowned restaurants, such as Cellar 335 and Madame in Jersey City. Kinjo is a fresh Japanese-inspired restaurant nestled in downtown Newark, specifically at 155 Washington Ave. This new establishment offers a no-nonsense menu featuring beloved Japanese culinary delights.

Curated in collaboration with Chef William Sanders, Kinjo’s menu encompasses delectable options such as dumplings, bao, sushi rolls, ramen, and other traditional dishes. In other words, it’s what you’d expect when dining at a Japanese restaurant. The venue boasts a generous seating capacity of 120, a well-stocked bar, and an enticing cocktail selection.

The restaurant also enjoyed its opening on Instagram, writing: “We had a great time this week hosting our first event at Kinjo! This resident event celebrated the one year anniversary of the Newark URBY!” This was accompanied by an array of pictures showing the interior of the restaurant.

Overall, it will be interesting to see how this eatery gets on. To date, there are several established Japanese restaurants dotted across Newark meaning that competition is fierce. You can find Kinjo within the Urby apartment building, conveniently located in proximity to Rutgers Law’s Newark campus.
