CCTV shows callous thief steal Pride Flag from porch during night-time raid
Footage captured from a Kuna camera recently showed a Lincoln resident callously snatching an LGBTQ+ Pride flag from a porch in the dead of night. After ripping the flag from its original position, the hooded thief quickly ran off.
Due to the natural darkness and the fact that the culprit wore a hoodie, it is nearly impossible to identify them. However, the victim did say they were a ‘youth’ which fits the physical description. This incident took place at Cripple Creek, just south of Old Cheney on 40th, and understandably left the flag owner frustrated and angered.
The footage was uploaded to Reddit, where the victim wrote: ‘We fly a Pride flag in front of our home 24/7 to show that we support our community and that there is a safe space. Some people in our neighborhood feel quite threatened by this show of pride. This is the 4th time we’ve replaced our flag and pole and will continue to do so. It’s not a fun prank it is a hate crime and harassment.’
Overall, the majority of Reddit comments were in solidarity with the victim, while also criticizing the thief. Here, many put it down to a case of bored teenagers but irrespective of this, it is still theft.
