New Lakeside Restaurant opens in Austin – And it has an international menu

October 16, 2023 by No Comments

Opening on its debut on October 11, Quince occupies the premises at 3825 Lake Austin Boulevard, Suite 201 in Tarrytown. This location was formerly home to the now-closed Abel’s on the Lake. Although, initially, a representative from Quince did not confirm the specific location, Abel confirmed its decision not to renew the lease, which expired at the end of December 2022. It’s worth noting that Quince’s imagery at the time closely resembled that of Abel’s on the Lake.

Quince offers a diverse international menu, featuring a wide range of dishes, from sushi and ceviches to yakimeshi (Japanese fried rice), pasta, grilled meats, burgers, seafood, and breakfast items, among many others. The drink selection is extensive as well. In the mornings, patrons can enjoy smoothies, juices, a bloody mary and mimosa bar, and a variety of teas. For those looking for cocktails, there’s a great selection of margaritas, carajillos (Mexican cocktails made with espresso), and other alcoholic beverages. Notably, Quince has its own in-house bakery, Boulangerie Bleu, specializing in French pastries, and an in-house sushi bar called Onna.

The co-founders of Quince, Brian Sneed from Texas and Guadalajaran architect Chantal Arias, initially launched the original Quince in San Miguel in 2016 through their investment group, Rooftop Venture Partners. They later opened their first U.S. location in Fort Worth in March 2023, making the Austin establishment their third overall. The culinary creations at Quince are the brainchild of executive chef Gonzalo Martinez.

Quince’s operating hours for the Austin location are not specified, but typically, the restaurant serves patrons during the afternoon and evening hours.
