Kim Reynolds challenged over Iowa farmer comments
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds recently gained heat for her comments based on farming in Iowa. On her personal Twitter account, Reynolds was photographed alongside Iowan farmers, which she captioned: ‘There’s nothing more American than being a Farmer. Thank you to all the families across Iowa who feed and fuel the world.’ This was part of National Farmers Day which took place last week.
As ever with Reynolds, this comment wasn’t taken well by everyone and it’s fair to say that the Iowa Governor has a lot of critics within her state, despite the majority voting her in as governor.
Responding to this, one user named Marianne Dirksen wrote: “Photo op. Would you be doing this if you knew it wouldn’t get votes?” Another Iowan named Joe Andreas had this to say: “There’s nothing more American than Farm Tax subsidies and support payments.”
Another user went as far to say that only 3% of Iowans were farmers. However, this claim may not be true as there are no sources to verify this. Nonetheless, it looks as though this post may have not gone down as Reynolds intended. If nothing else, this highlights the growing divide in Iowa between both political parties, and that some people appear fed up with their governor.
