Far-left activists vandalize Seattle Parks property to send message

Seattle residents near Cal Anderson Park have reported that on the evening of last Friday, individuals engaged in acts of vandalism against public property owned by Seattle Parks. This was seen as a form of communication, with the vandals seeking to champion the preservation of the Black Lives Matter Garden. This garden, initially established in the aftermath of the 2020 George Floyd protests and the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest (CHOP), has been an enduring symbol.

However, the city administration, after more than three years, intends to repurpose the land for other uses. In response, they have offered an alternative plot of land to the Black Star Farmers, the nonprofit organization responsible for managing the garden.

The news was originally broken by a local journalist named Jonathan Choe, who videoed the graffiti and showed the damage done to various parts of the garden.

Looking through the Twitter comments, it looks as though many people didn’t agree with the act of vandalism. Here, one user wrote: “2020 is done. Over. Never going back either. Bulldoze that dump/eyesore and lay some grass over it. Not hard.”

Similarly, another added: “These fake revolutionaries do not speak for Seattle. They are frauds and should be ignored. Restore Cal Anderson to its rightful public users, not these activist thieves.”

As of now, no agreement has been reached, setting the stage for a potential and significant conflict in the near future. This story could rumble on.
