Safeway put on blast over ‘miserable’ $8 sandwich

Yesterday, a Sacramento Safeway store was lambasted for what was described as a ‘miserable’ $8 sandwich. Here, the customer showed an image of their sandwich which included a little lettuce, a single slice of ham, and a very small amount of cheese.

Clearly not happy with the purchase, they took to the internet to complain about the S St. Safeway store and wrote this: “I needed a quick bite to eat for lunch and didn’t have time to go to a restaurant or order something. I stopped into the S st Safeway for a pre-made sandwich. To be fair, I didn’t really look at the price before I grabbed it. I got to the register and saw it for $7.99. I put in my Safeway number and waited for the price to go down and it never did. I thought, fine, hopefully it’s good. I took 2 bites. One miserable slice of ham and one slice of cheese, the rest, lettuce, and no sauce. Just the driest sandwich I’ve ever had with no filling. I wouldn’t have cared if it was $3. BUT $8!”

The image was uploaded to Reddit, and the infamous sandwich can be seen in all of its glory below.

The top-rated reply put it very bluntly and simply wrote: “That is one sad sandwich,” while others in the thread agreed. Overall, this generated more than 40 comments with the consensus being that this sandwich was not a good one. Thankfully, most places in Sacramento are not like this and usually, it is known for its vibrant food scene.
