Rooftop Cocktail Bar closes after 3 years of business
After just three years of business, Garden City has closed. This hasn’t been announced on their social media pages but their Google and Yelp profiles are now listed as permanently closed. Speaking of social media pages, their Instagram has not been updated in over 6 weeks while their Facebook page has also been silent which is another indicator of their closure.
Garden City was a rooftop cocktail bar that was located at Tuttle Rd in Shaker Heights. Interestingly, it was the brainchild of the same hospitality group behind Shake It (a fast-food chicken shop) which opened in the same year and has also closed. This is not coincidental but little information is available surrounding the reason for the closure. However, it would make strategic sense to close a rooftop bar with the winter season fast approaching. From a weather point of view, this could badly affect business.
Despite its closure, Garden City experienced a number of positive reviews when it came to its cocktail offerings. Overall, the news of its closure will come as sad news for locals. Historically, Cleveland hasn’t had too many successful rooftop cocktail bars so it may be missed. On a similar note, it is not known what will replace this venue in the long term.
