This weekend, it emerged that Crossroads Trading in Los Angeles had implemented a new 3% surcharge. This was posted online which showed a photo of the new policy. Here, it read ‘About our surcharge. In an effort to preserve our affordable price and keep up with the rising costs of doing, a 3% surcharge will be added to your purchase. Thank you for being a Crossroads customer.’

The sign was uploaded to Reddit, where a number of LA locals had their say on the new surcharge. Having said this, the exact store location was not mentioned by the photographer. Nonetheless, this still prompted a heated discussion where users criticized the store.

Reacting to this, one user was less than impressed and wrote: “I would understand it more if they just raised the prices based on their business model. But charging an overall percentage just seems like a giant cash grab.” Similarly, others agreed that this surcharge seemed greedy and wasn’t appreciated.

Over the years, Crossroads has built up a number of stores across the USA. Here, they specialize in the buying and selling of used and vintage clothes. Typically, you would assume buyer used clothes would lead to cheaper purposes. With this new surcharge though, this assumption may not exactly be true.
