Raising Cane’s employs armed security guard for Pittsburgh opening

Yesterday, an image circulated around social media that showed an armed security guard posted outside the entrance of Raising Cane’s in Pittsburgh. Here, the guard donned a baseball cap, sunglasses, tactical vest, and holster. Clearly, he was not there to mess around. Next to the guard was a line so he was probably employed to enforce order while customers queued for their food. Nonetheless, you don’t usually see a fast food joint employing an armed guard.

The image was originally uploaded on Reddit which prompted a discussion on the need for an armed guard for Raising Cane’s. Unfortunately, this is Pittsburgh though and it is known for crime compared to other cities. The store in question was located at 3610 Fifth Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. This is Pittsburgh’s first Raising Cane’s location and this was during its grand opening which explains the line.

Responding to this, one user commented: “The guy is pretty serious, his car has a bumper bully cage on the front end of it. I guess just in case he needs to conduct a high speed chase if somebody steals an extra piece of Texas toast? Only in America are chicken fingers better protected than students at schools.”

Raising Cane’s is a popular fast-food restaurant chain that primarily serves chicken fingers, often referred to as “Cane’s Chicken.” The company was founded by Todd Graves and Craig Silvey and opened its first restaurant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1996. Since then, Raising Cane’s has expanded and become known for its simple yet focused menu, which revolves around high-quality, hand-battered, and freshly cooked chicken tenders.
