Jay Inslee criticized after offshore wind comments

Washington Governor Jay Inslee recently landed himself in hot water after comments surrounding the offshore wind supply chain and its benefits for Washington state. Although he played this off as a positive thing, many Twitter users quickly jumped on his comments to disagree with him. Here, he wrote: “There are thousands of gigawatts, countless jobs, and billions of dollars to be unlocked by entering the offshore wind supply chain. Yesterday, Washington State joined the game. This tweet gained a total of 230 replies which tells you that a lot of people had their own take on things. Although some comments were complimentary or neutral, a lot of them lambasted Inslee based on similar policies.

Replying to this, one user named Brina wrote: “I feel more taxes are coming down the road for this. Enough already! Our dams are what power your big city electricity needs.” Regardless of your political stance, it’s fair to assume that this policy would require tax funding at some point.

Similarly, a user named Richard Hume had his say and said: “We need to join the game that provides the working class with affordable, dependable, safe energy. Wind, solar, and battery, energy sources are insufficient and unaffordable to meet and manage the needs of American workers. Elites, leftist political and donor class out of touch.”

Overall, these were just a small sample of a large number of those who went against the governor. Retiring in 2025, it will be interesting to see if this policy gets implemented under Inslee’s leadership.
