Three Lincoln Burger King Restaurants close – With even more sold

Multiple Burger King outlets in Lincoln have recently shut down, while a different entity has taken over ownership.

In late September, Meridian Restaurants Unlimited, which was already facing bankruptcy and owned several Burger Kings in Lincoln and other parts of Nebraska, received legal approval to close the following Lincoln locations: those at 48th and Holdrege streets, 48th and Van Dorn streets, 5940 Havelock Ave., and the one in Hastings.

The remaining Burger King outlets in Lincoln, specifically at 84th and O streets, 17th and South Streets, 40th Street and Old Cheney Road, and 11th Street and Cornhusker Highway, along with the Beatrice location, have been acquired by a company based in Kansas. This Kansas-based company also acquired 11 of Meridian’s locations in Kansas as part of a bankruptcy auction.

These closures follow Meridian’s earlier shutdown of the locations at 25th and O Streets, 27th and Superior Streets in April, along with the one in York, as part of their bankruptcy proceedings.

Due to this, it is not known about the future of other Lincoln Burger King establishments as there has clearly been a shake-up in recent months. It is also unknown what will replace the closed venues. However, if you were to guess then you would assume it would mean new restaurants at some point.
