Two distinct fires occurred overnight and in the early hours of Thursday, causing damage to two businesses in Jacksonville. The first fire, reportedly ignited by an electrical issue, occurred at Hamburger Mary’s on Beach Boulevard. The second fire took place at the intersection of Beaver Street and Jones Road, engulfing the MJ Food Mart.

Speaking about the fire on their Facebook page, Mary’s wrote: “Earlier this evening, we experienced an electrical fire that was devastating to the building. We are currently assessing the damages and working with our insurance and landlord. We aren’t going anywhere yet! Remember to eat, drink, and be Mary!”

This post got hundreds of likes and comments that praised the bar and wished it well. Based on this, it looks like Mary’s will return at some point. However, due to the early stages of dealing with this problem, a comeback date has not yet been given and it could be months.

Hamburger Mary’s is a popular restaurant and bar known for its casual dining experience, featuring a variety of burgers and other comfort food items on its menu. Hamburger Mary’s often combines a restaurant setting with a lively entertainment environment, hosting events, drag shows, and performances, making it a well-known spot for dining and entertainment in the LGBTQ+ community.

Jacksonville’s Fire and Rescue Department successfully extinguished both fires, but not before substantial damage was inflicted upon the affected establishments. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either incident.
