Koreatown favorite Michin Dak announces shock closure
One of Koreatown’s tastiest chicken vendors yesterday announced its upcoming closure. This announcement was made on Michin Dak’s Instagram page and claimed that Saturday (tomorrow) will be their final day of operation. Intriguingly, the statement didn’t mention why the shop was closing and didn’t give away too much information surrounding it.
Here, the statement read: ‘We will be permanently closing our doors this Saturday, 10/14. We appreciate everyone’s love and support for the past years. Please enjoy the best chicken sandwich in LA the rest of this week; we will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Saturday. With love, Michin Dak’.
The announcement gained hundreds of likes and various comments from users who paid their tributes. Over on the Los Angeles Reddit section, the news also broke which got users speculating on why it closed down.
Here, one user had this to say: “I went here a few months ago thinking it was another place I’d been to years ago, possibly whatever restaurant was there before it because the building is so recognizable but the food was completely different. Anyway I spent over $18, it was ridiculously spicy even at the mildest setting, and I was still hungry afterward. I hate to see local restaurants close but I think in this case it will make way for something better.”
Based on this, it will be interesting to see what replaces Michin Dak and more importantly for Los Angeles locals, whether its replacement will actually be an upgrade or not.
