Greg Gianforte criticized over Montana housing remarks

Today, Montana Governor Greg Gianforte took to Twitter to give a self-congratulatory announcement that was based on removing homeownership barriers in the state. This sounded perfect, but as we all know in life, reality is often different compared to words. Because of this, his statement was largely criticized by Montanans who didn’t agree with him and attacked his policy. The Tweet read: ‘To remove barriers to homeownership in Montana, we’re: Encouraging denser housing, cutting red tape that drives up costs, supporting innovative, free market solutions, investing in a stronger workforce.’

This prompted a response by one user named Montana Gal who replied: “You vetoed a bipartisan bill that protected mobile homeowners from greedy corporations. All of the above does more to serve your corporate buddies, and less for Montanans struggling to keep the home they already own.” This refers to a bill that Gianforte vetoed back in May that removed protections for trailer park homeowners.

Another user was less diplomatic and didn’t mince their words at all. In a simple reply, they wrote: “You got yours, don’t pretend you care about average Montanans.” This serves as an example that sometimes when a politician speaks, not everyone buys it. Despite his original comment sounding good, the reality of Montana’s housing situation may be quite different.
