Critically acclaimed San Francisco restaurant announces closure

October 12, 2023 by No Comments

The renowned Michelin-starred fine-dining establishment, Avery, has announced its closure after a successful seven-year run on San Francisco’s Fillmore Street. However, this isn’t the end of the road for Avery, as indicated in their August announcement, they have plans to launch a new Avery location in Edinburgh, Scotland, scheduled to open in spring 2024.

The surprising announcement was made on Instagram which also explained the decision to switch from San Francisco to Edinburgh. Part of the announcement read: ‘After seven years on Fillmore Street, Chef Rodney and his team have decided to close Avery for new adventures and new challenges.’

While operating in San Francisco, Avery has been known for its menu, combining Asian and European culinary influences, offering dishes such as foie gras tortellini, grilled black cod curry, and black truffle tuna. The upcoming Avery location in Edinburgh is expected to maintain a similar flavor profile but will incorporate Scottish ingredients like scallops and wild game.

Nevertheless, Avery is not completely departing from San Francisco. There are intentions to introduce a new, more relaxed dining concept in the former Avery space on Fillmore Street, with a focus on a less chef-centric approach. Avery’s final day of service is set for November 4, and the owner has expressed the likelihood of hosting an “open-house party” on November 5 to bid farewell to the restaurant.
